Apple to Release More Affordable Vision Headset in 2025

Apple is still planning to release a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset in 2025, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The non-Pro model is likely to be called “Apple Vision One” or simply “Apple Vision.”

Gurman wrote in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple is working on a cheaper version of its headset, signaling that it is pursuing a two-product strategy, similar to its iPhone lineup. The Vision Pro headset is currently priced at $3,499, which is thought to be close to its manufacturing cost. Gurman believes that Apple could reduce the price of the cheaper model by using cheaper components, such as a single 4K microLED display instead of two, and a less powerful chip than the M2 Apple silicon. The company could also use fewer cameras and a simpler headband design.

However, Gurman believes that Apple will not compromise on certain features, such as the EyeSight external screen, which shows a wearer’s eyes, and the eye- and hand-tracking system. These features are essential to the Apple Vision experience, and Gurman believes that they will be included in the cheaper model as well.

Apple’s plan to release a more affordable Vision headset was first reported in January by The Information and Bloomberg. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also reported that Apple plans to have a two-tiered headset category lineup by the end of 2025.

The release of a more affordable Vision headset could help Apple to reach a wider audience and accelerate the adoption of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technology. AR and VR are still in their early stages of development, but they have the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with computers and the world around us. Apple is a leader in the development of AR and VR technology, and the release of a more affordable headset could help to make these technologies more accessible to consumers.thumb_upthumb_downuploadGoogle itmore_vert
